Susan Butterfly-Ebert - Biography

Susan Butterfly-Ebert  is a contemporary figurative oil painter born in Phoenix. She and her family split time between Phoenix and San Diego.

She began attending the prestigious Scottsdale Artists’ School’s Foundations in Oil program in 2017 where she still currently studies. She has attended many professional artist taught workshops at SAS as well. With no prior formal art training, she realized she had a passion for the problem-solving involved in figurative painting, and she avidly paints in her studio at home more than forty hours a week.

Since her first year at SAS she has had paintings  juried into the Best and Brightest and Beaux Art Fresh Paint competitions.

In 2021, she received one of the 12 awards among hundreds of paintings submitted in the Best and Brightest competition. In 2023 Susan had six paintings juried into the  2023 C3 Who’s New exhibition in Coronado, CA

Susan’s favorite painting references capture a story or a nostalgic moment in time. She often works from old black and white images, transforming  them into colorful, contemporary paintings.
